Rock Springs - Mary Jo Bawden, 50, of Rock Springs died Friday, August 31, 2007 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 24, 1957 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Frank B. and Josephine Yarbrough Welch.
Mary attended schools in Denver and graduated from West High School as class valedictorian with the class of 1975. She also attended Weber College and Brigham Young University.
She married Grant W. Bawden on June 7, 1986 in the Ogden LDS Temple in Ogden, Utah.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Relief Society President and also served in many other capacities.
Mary was a substitute teacher and gave a lot of her time as a parent volunteer for school. Her interests were cooking, sewing, violin, family, and spending time with her children.
Survivors include her husband, Grant of Rock Springs; 2 sons, Joshua Grant Bawden, serving an LDS mission in Tempe-Arizona Mission, Ben and wife Anya of Prescott, Arizona; five daughters, Marianne Elizabeth , Sarah Nan, Rachel Jo, and Hannah Rebecca Bawden, all of Rock Springs, and Emily and husband Nate of Orem, Utah; three sisters, Leslie Moon and husband Frank of Salt Lake City, Carol Richards and husband Don of St. Louise, Missouri, and Sherry Bingham and husband Lenard of Bluffdale, Utah; grandchild Morgan of Prescott, AZ; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter Anna.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will take place at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.
