Mary Vickie Gardea

Green River - Mary Vickie Gardea 59, of Green River died May 15, 2007 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City after a short illness. She was born in Dixon, New Mexico, the daughter of Benjamin Cordova and Longina Pacheco Cordova. She had been a Green River resident for 59 years. She was employed with the school district # 2 as a school bus driver for 25 years, retiring in April 25, 2003. Vickie married Jose Gardea on September 16, 1967 in Green River, Wyoming. She was a member of the Eagles and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Green River. Her interests were camping, sewing, bingo, and being with her family. Survivors are her husband Jose Gardea of Green River; three sons , Victor Gardea of Hillsboro, Oregon, Lonnie Gardea and wife Janell, Jeff Gardea and wife Hope, all of Green River; one daughter, Joanne Lopez and husband Tomas of Green River; one sister, Felicia Montoya and husband Leo of Green River; three brothers, Ben Cordova and wife Peggy of Rock Springs, Wilfred Cordova and wife Shirley, and Elmer Cordova, all of Green River; mother-in-law, Elisa Gardea of Green River; eight grandchildren, Rito, Amy, and TJ Lopez, Destini Valdez, Rochelle, Brandon, Tyson and Delaney Gardea; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Orlinda Patino and Eliza Rodriguez, and father-in-law Guillermo Gardea. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 19, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. Friends may call 4-6 pm Friday at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. A holy rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Friday, May 18, 2007 at the church in Green River. Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River.
