Maynard C. Jackson, 84, of Salt Lake City died March 5, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family.
Maynard was born December 3, 1920 in Holiday Cove, WV the son of Jesse Parks and Martha Esther Cunningham Jackson. He attended elementary and high school in Denver. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. On April 23, 1947 he married Jean M. Garnett in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was employed as a auto/diesel mechanic and was in Executive Housekeeping at Primary Children’s Hospital for 15 years until his retirement in January 1986.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints.
His interest included his family, automobiles, and mechanics.
Survivors include his wife Jean Jackson of Salt Lake City; one son, Maynard (LuDean) Jackson of I daho Falls, ID; four daughters, Diane (Allan) Butterfield of Mapelton, UT, Marla (Clyde) Burton of Clearfield, UT, Lori (Gary) Hamm of Grantsville, UT, and Kristi (Jeff) Curtis of Taylorsville, UT; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Bruce Jackson, and granddaughter Ashlee Curtis.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Cross Pointe LDS Ward, 5550 S. 1327 W., Salt Lake City, UT where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Bishop Clive Romney officiating. Fox Funeral Home, Rock Springs, WY funeral directors.
Interment with military honors will take place at the Utah State Veteran Cemetery, Bluffdale, UT .
