Michael Dwight Fisher
Rock Springs - Michael Dwight Fisher, 65, of Rock Springs died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at his home after a sudden illness.
He was born October 25, 1943 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Dwight “Bud” Angus Fisher and Jerri Rice Fisher. He attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1962. He also attended Western Wyoming Community College and University of Wyoming where he received his BS degree.
Michael served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Lorely “Lollie” Murla Daniels June 1967 in Rock Springs. She preceded him in death on November 22, 1982.
He married Janet Rae Stroud on May 22, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Michael was employed by Pacific Power for 22 years until his retirement on October 31, 2002.
He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Toastmaster Drinking Club.
His interests were archeology, studying the civil war, reading books, education, and traveling. He traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Chili, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Peru, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Europe.
Survivors include his wife Janet Rae Fisher of Rock Springs; one son, Glen Fisher of Gillette, Wyoming; one daughter Michelle Vogel and husband Frank of Gillette; step-daughters Amy Whitman of Casper, and Julie Whitman of Powder River, Wyoming; twin brother, Terrance Fisher of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Brady and Quincy Vogel of Gillette; two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud Fisher and Jerri Fisher Miles, first wife, “Lollie” Fisher, and step-father Jerry Miles.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
