Michael James Swenson Rock Springs - Michael James Swenson, 65, of Rock Springs died October 7, 2013 at the Desert Health and Rehab in Rock Springs after a short illness. He was born December 10, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Roscoe W. Swenson and Valeria Brown Swenson. He attended schools in Ogden, Utah. He married Janice Lynn Carter August 31, 1970 in San Diego, California. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. He had been employed by Talco Trucking for many years. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Rock Springs. His interests were listening to music especially the Blues, coaching softball, filming family events, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Janice Swenson of Rock Springs; sons Michael D. Swenson and wife Cari of Rock Springs, Julian Hayden and wife Jamie of West Valley City, Utah; daughters Physhaunt Westbrook and husband LaMar of Rock Springs, and Tracy Rollin and husband Fred of West Valley City; brothers Bernard Swenson and wife Renae of Rock Springs, Kenneth Swenson and companion Faye of Pittsburg, California, and Roscoe Swenson Jr. of San Diego, California; sisters Valjean McDaniels of Sacramento, California, and Ethel Bell of San Diego, California; grandchildren Dejanae, Dakarai, DeShaun, Kaelen, and Joseph Maes; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Swenson. Cremation will take place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2012 at the Sweetwater Events Complex, 3320 Yellowstone Rd., Rock Springs.
