Mildred Baker
Rock Springs - Mildred Lorraine Baker, 90, of Rock Springs died Sunday February 12, 2012 at Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 16, 1921 in Pennington County, South Dakota, the daughter of Sherman Jackson and Ida Mae Lewis Jackson. She attended schools in Hill City, South Dakota and graduated from Hill City High School with the class of 1939.
She married Donald O. Baker September 17, 1945 in New Castle, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1986.
She had been employed with Meals on Wheels and as a waitress in South Dakota and Ft. Bridger, Wyoming. She also worked at the Senior Citizens Center in Superior for 14 years.
Her interests were collecting, arts & crafts, embroidering, and spending time with her animals and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Lee Petera of San Pablo, California, and Patricia Ann Baker of Rock Springs; brothers James Edward Petera and wife Mary Lou of Denver, and Donald Albert Baker of Rawlins; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don Baker, sons David Sherman Baker and John Allen Baker, brothers, Hardy, Clifford, and Ronald Davis.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
