Myrle Ray Evans Green River - Myrle Ray Evans, 84, of Green River died quietly surrounded by his family at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River, Saturday, May 29, 2010. He was born September 10, 1925 in Evanston, the son of Norman Wilford Evans and Ione Cain Larsen. During his childhood years he grew up in Evanston, Green River, and Ogden, Utah due to his father's employment with the railroad. He graduated from high school in Omaha, Nebraska. He joined the Army Air Corps, and after being discharged, he attended college in San Francisco, California where he obtained his electrical engineering degree. He was then called back to active duty and served during the Korean War. Myrle married Loretta Jean Davis on August 21, 1953 in Green River. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was employed as an electrical engineer at FMC for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He later did consulting for FMC and Western Wyoming Community College. He was active in the Jaycees, Green River Square Dancers (the Squarenaders), and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions including Scout Master, Stake Clerk, Sunday School and Young Men's President, and Librarian. He and his wife served a 3-year service mission in the Bishop's Storehouse. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Loretta Evans of Green River; sons James Evans and wife Ranae, Ken Evans and wife Eileen, all of Green River; daughter Alice Wagoner of Patton, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; step-sister Edith Woodring of Grand Junction, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Ione Evans, stepfather Otto Larsen, twin sister, Myrtle May, brothers Bennett Edward and Day Norman, stepbrothers Gerald and Otto Larsen, and stepsister Mary Alice Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Green River LDS Stake Center, 120 Shoshone, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m Wednesday, June 2, 2010 and Thursday one hour prior to services. Military honors and interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Green River. Friends may leave condolences for the family by going to www.foxfh.com.
