Rock Springs – Nick G. Demas, 63, Rock Springs, died Friday March 12, 2004 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Rock Springs, after a short illness.
Nick was born November 9, 1940 in Rock Springs, the son of Nick G. and Sylvia Dimick Demas. He attended school in Superior up to the 11th grade and then he graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1959. On November 28, 1958 he married Theresa A. Velikaneye in Randolph, Utah.
He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1966. He was employed at Sunset Scavengers for eleven years in San Francisco, He owned and operated Demas Diesel Repair in Rock Springs for twenty-seven years and also DJ’s Bar for eight years. Up until the time of his death he was semi-retired working for Jackman’s Construction.
Nick was a member of the Catholic Church.
His interests included hunting and fishing, golfing, auto mechanics, carpentry work, taking trips with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Theresa Demas; one son, Nick Demas III and his companion Brenda Brown of Lake Havasu, Arizona; two daughters, Tammy Swenson and husband Lee of Rock Springs, and Lori Demas of Gillette, Wyoming; two sisters; Ramona Yount of Sedona, Arizona, and Elaine Demas Olson of Hampshire, Illinois; close cousin Elmer George Dimick and wife Sue of Rock Springs; best friend Lynn Jackman of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Desirae Saathoff, Nick Demas IV, Darrell and Alexis Demas, Nathaniel and Lacey Demas; one aunt, Arlene Pecolar of Provo, Utah; one uncle, Jean Clark of Rock Springs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, parents, one grandson, David Grant Southerland Jr.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday March 17, 2004 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs.
