Norma Hope Nelson
Rock Springs - Norma Hope Nelson, 87, of Rock Springs died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her residence in Rock Springs.
She was born April 16, 1926 in Manila, Utah, the daughter of Ralph Searle and Edith Anson Searle. She attended schools in Manila and graduated from Manila High School with the class of 1944.
She married Ren Nelson on March 18, 1946 in Green River, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple, Ogden, Utah.
She worked for Woolworths in the accounting department for many years. She also worked for School District #1 as an aide for 5 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as Sunday School and Relief Society teacher, and a Visiting teacher.
Her interests were camping, spending time with her family, and spending retirement with her husband in St. George for the last 25 years.
Survivors include her husband Ren Nelson of Rock Springs; son Gail Nelson and wife Jan of Tomball, Texas; daughter Gloria Anderson and husband Byron of West Valley City, Utah, and Lorraine Muniz of Rock Springs; brother Tom Anson and wife Pat of Indiana; sisters Judy Fox and husband Jim and Garnet Twitchell and husband Tony all of Washington; sister-in-law Shirley Nelson of Utah; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Edith Searle, brothers and sisters June Campbell, Jay Nelson, Lloyd Searle, Cala Bame, Mark, Dick, Sybil and Lyndie Anson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Rock Springs LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. A viewing will be held 6 to 7pm Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will take place in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, North Rock Springs.
