Richard A. Martinez Jr. Rock Springs - Richard A. Martinez Jr., 33, of Rock Springs died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born May 19, 1980 in Rock Springs, the son of Richard Anthony Martinez and Dori Kay Evans Benbo. He attended schools in East Cheyenne. He had been employed as a oil rig pusher for Mountain States for last few years. His interests were music, fishing, camping, boating, riding motorcycles, working in the oil fields, learning new things, and spending time with his many friends and family members. Survivors include his parents Richard A. Martinez Sr. of Rock Springs, and Dori K. Benbo of Denver, Colorado; son Donavon A. Martinez of Cheyenne; brothers Robert D. Calderone of Rock Springs, Andrew R. Calderone of Denver, JJ Cruz of Rock Springs, and Bryan Martinez of Chile, Arizona; sisters Amanda L. Calderone of Denver, and Nicole Cruz of Rock Springs; grandparents Teto and Tonia Martinez of Rock Springs, and Robert W. Evans of Roy, Utah; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friend Nick Wester. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Christina M. Evans, uncle Robert W. Evans Jr., and cousin David Bubach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. Emilio Cabrera will officiate. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Friends may also call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Cremation will follow at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
