Rock Springs - Robert Chris Dunn, 60 of Rock Springs died Saturday, July 10, 2010 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on highway 191.
He was born January 18, 1950 in Newport, Arkansas the son of Robert Bates Dunn and Oretha Mae Lewallen Dunn. He attended schools in Oil Trough, Arkansas and graduated from Saint Louis High School in Hawaii in 1975.
He was a US veteran having served in the Marines.
Mr. Dunn was employed by the Rock Springs Police Department for 16 years until his retirement June 30, 2006.
He was a member of the VFW Post 833 and held position of Trustee, Jr. Vice Commander and District 6 Adjutant, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 holding position as the Salt Lake City VAMC Van Coordinator and Department of Wyoming Sgt. of Arms, and Local Chapter 12 DAV Commander. He was also a member of DAVA Unit 12 holding position as Trustee, and the Independent Veterans Alliance holding position as Sgt. of Arms and Trustee, and a member of American Legion Archie Hay Post 24.
He was also a member of the Harley Davidson Club, State of Wyoming Peace Officers, and State of Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy.
His interests were his children and grandchildren, motorcycles, hunting, movies, playing pool, dancing, and good cigars.
Survivors include his mother Oretha Dunn of Evanston; son Robert Andrews Dunn of Rock Springs; daughter Heather Dunn of Rock Springs; stepsons Joe Crosland of Pennsylvania and Benjamin Crosland of Green River; brother Stan Dunn of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; four sisters, Pam Damron of Evanston, Pat Fargo of Rockaway Beach, Jeanie Queenen of Forsyth, Missouri, and Carol Holden of Yuba, City, California; 6 grandchildren, Danica Haynes, Kaileena Dunn, Robert Dunn, Clara Dunn, Andrew Dunn, and an expected grandchild in December; several aunts and uncles; numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father Bob Bates Dunn and brother Michael Wayne Dunn.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Memorial services with military honor by American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Tom Breeze will officiate.
Following the services, family and friends are invited to gather at Buddha Bob’s, 1549 9th St., Rock Springs.
