Sam DeVries
Green River – Sam DeVries, 62, of Green River died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 8, 1953 in Ogden, the son of William DeVries and Stella Case DeVries. He attended schools in Ogden.
He married Debra Jean Nessen November 30, 1972 in Harrisville, Utah.
He worked for General Chemical as a boiler operator for over 30 years.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers local 15320 in Green River.
His interests were hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
Survivors included his wife Debra Jean DeVries of Green River; daughters Suzette Johnson and husband Frank of Green River, Melany Aldridge and husband Kenny of Sunset, Utah; brothers Bob DeVries of Roy, Utah, Bill DeVries of Layton, Utah, and Ben DeVries of Atlantic City, Wyoming; sister Pearl DeVries of Green River; grandchildren Samantha Doak and husband Ian, Kylee Johnson, and Braxton Johnson all of Green River, Austin, Eric, Brayden and Dakota Aldridge all of Utah; several brother and sister-in-laws,several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Stella DeVries, parents-in-law Ray and Jeanene Nessen, and sister-in-law Beverly DeVries.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 24, 2015 at the Green River LDS Stake Center, 120 Shoshone, Green River.
A viewing will take place 6-8 pm Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the church and also one hour prior to the services on Monday.
Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River.
