Viola Weatherington

Viola Weatherington Rock Springs - Viola Weatherington, 77, of Rock Springs, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins, Colorado after a lengthy illness. She has been residing in Ft. Collins for the past few months. She was born October 27, 1930 in Reliance, Wyoming, the daughter of William Clark “Whitey” and Bernice McWilliams Hamblin. Viola married Herbert Wayne Weatherington in Vernal, Utah on March 26, 1948. She had been employed by Sweetwater County School District #1 in the Kitchen Service Department for 12 years. Viola was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as primary teacher, girl & boy scout leader, and Relief Society member. She also served as PTA president for Reliance Elementary. Her interests included crocheting, knitting, camping, family outings, reading and was a band member for the Young At Heart Senior Center. Survivors include two daughters; Connie Gradert and husband Clayton of Rock Springs; Viola Joy Oakley and husband Raul of Green River; one son, Herbert Weatherington Jr. and wife Barbara of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sisters, Bernice Boone of Lyman, and Addy Weeks and husband Bill of Star Valley; nine grandchildren, Patricia Belew and husband Robert, Jenny McArthur and husband Mel, Valerie Harris and husband Cory, Amy Reyes and husband Joel, Stephanie Ransom and companion Wylie Sweet, Pat Gradert and wife Brenda, Travis Gradert, Jeremy Hartman, Jessica Bryant and husband Daniel; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Bernice Hamblin; her husband Herbert Weatherington; a daughter, a son, and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the LDS Foothill Ward Chapel, 3315 White Mountain Blvd., Rock Springs. Friends may call 5-7 pm Monday, March 17, 2008 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church. There will be an open house from 5-9 pm on Monday, March 17th at America’s Best Value Inn, 2518 Foothill Blvd., Rock Springs. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
