Denver, CO - Wesley Nick Zakovich, 71, of Denver, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Hospice of St. John in Denver following a lengthy illness.
He was born September10, 1936 in Rock Springs, the son of Nick Zakovich and Sophia Galovich.
Wesley graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, California with the class of 1954. He attended the University of Wyoming and also served in the U.S. military during the Korean War.
He married Mary Jo Alley on August 20, 1966 in Laramie, Wyoming. They later divorced.
Wesley was employed with the Wyoming Highway Department as a Civil Engineer for sixteen years.
He was a member of the Eastern/Serbian Greek Orthodox Church.
His interests included supporting and encouraging his daughter’s hobbies, watching old movies and cartoons (especially Mickey Mouse) and collecting.
Survivors include his daughter, Marlene Zakovich Cavanagh of South Pasadena, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Sophia Zakovich.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N Street, Rock Springs. Father Mario Giannopolos will officiate.
Friends may call 5-6 pm Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs where a prayer service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m..
Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, in Rock Springs.
