Rock Springs - Wilford King Jr., 71 of Rock Springs died Wednesday May 2, 2007 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois after complications following surgery. He was born January 8, 1936 in Rock Springs, the son of Wilford and Cora Mae Ray King. Wilford attended schools in Sparta, IL and graduated from Sparta Township High School with the class of 1954. He also attended Western Wyoming Community College and became a certified electrician. He married Katharine Sinn on July 7, 1962 in Kimball, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2002. He had been employed at FMC as an electrician for over 25 years before retiring in January 1999. Wilford was a veteran of the US Navy and served at the Great lakes Training Center in Illinois. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. His interest were woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, dancing, playing bridge and volunteer work for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the senior citizens center. Survivors include are one son David King and wife Cynthia of McHenry Illinois; one daughter, Carrie King and fiancé Joe Daniels of San Diego, California; two sisters Virginia Kraft and husband Lyman of Missouri, and Carolyn Howie of Colorado; beloved pets, Spook, Oscar, Bear, Tank, Brodie and Clancy. Wilford was preceded in death by his wife Katharine, parents, and one brother Edward King. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday May 11, 2007 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, Wyoming, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Cowboys Against Cancer, 1893 Dewar Dr., Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901, or the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 538 Pilot Butte Ave,. Rock Springs, Wyoming, 82901.
