William "Bill" McKinley Coble Jr., of Superior, Wyoming born May 26, 1936 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania passed away with his wife and children by his side on November 1, 2009 at the Utah Valley Specialty Hospital in Provo, Utah after a courageous battle against multiple medical problems. He is survived by caretaker, wife and love of his life, Shirley Anne Coble (Mull). They were married November 15, 1953 and would have shared 56 years of marriage in 14 days. Bill was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1957 to 1959 in the 11th Airborne Division.
He spent his younger years as a long-distance semi driver, as a dairy farmer in Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, a butcher and then back to the road. One of his road trips landed him in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was employed at Bridger Coal Co. as a warehouse supervisor from which he retired in 1998. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed a host of friends from all over the United States and Switzerland. He and Shirley made a life for themselves in Wyoming and entertained many visitors. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska to fish. Bill was an avid hunter and had a great respect, understanding "God's Creation"-nature. And this he passed down to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In Wyoming he fulfilled his civic duty by serving as a council member for the city of Superior for 2 years and was elected as the Mayor of Superior for 12 years. He was proud of his accomplishments and new friendships made throughout his political career. He was affiliated with the Rock Springs Masonic Lodge #12 and the Scottish Rite in Lander, Wyoming. He was a member of the NRA and "The Mule Deer Foundation", and was a life member of both "The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation" and "The North American Hunting Club."
Together they have three children, Dianne C. Garrison and husband Jerry of Rock Spring, Keith L. Coble and wife Brinda of Superior, and William M Coble III and wife Marcy of Rock Springs. Loving grandchildren Travis Garrison and wife Juli, and beau Garrison all of Rock Springs, Daniel booth and wife Jeanne of North Dakota, April Lawson and husband Victor, and Tessa Botero and husband David all of Pennsylvania, William M. Coble IV of Rock Springs, and Amber Coble of Laramie, Wyoming; ten-granddaughters Eva Morin of Evanston, Wyoming and Audrey Prange of Rock Springs; great-grandchildren Tanner and Brittnay, Samantha, Jordan and Alexa, Heather and Dakota, Mikayla, Taylor and Shayla, Gaige, Parker, Madalynn and Maddox, and Jude Renee. He is also survived by his brother Martin J. Coble, sister-in-law Dawn Lapp and husband Wayne; and several nieces and nephews all in Pennsylvania.
Bill was preceded by his parents William M. Sr., and wife Mary Martin Coble; sister Faye Stoltzfus and husband Abner, nephew Brent Stoltzfus, his in-laws Paul and Faye Mull, a special nephew Franklin Mull, an infant grandson, Mikah Garrison, and grandson Kodiak Coble.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 7, 2009 at Fox Funeral home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday November 6, 2009 and 1 hour prior to services.
