William Lee Harns

William Lee Harns Sr. Farson - William Lee Harns Sr. 83, of Rock Springs, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home in Farson. He was born August 17, 1927 in Rock Springs, the son of Ralph Steele Harns and Margaret Thompson Lee Harns. He attended Yellowstone Elementary and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1945. He married Sylvia Louise Radosevich in Rock Springs on December 17, 1950. Mr. Harns was a veteran having served in the US Navy during World War II. He was self employed as a rancher until his retirement in the fall of 1992. He was a member of the Christian Science Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Sweetwater County Farm Bureau where he served as president for several years. He had served on numerous county and community boards. His interests included spending time with his wife of sixty years, following the numerous activities of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, fishing, hunting, camping, and playing cards with family and friends. He also played football in his younger years for Rock Springs High School. Survivors include his wife Sylvia of Farson; sons Steven James Harns and wife Valinda, William Lee Harns Jr. and wife Nancy, and Christopher Harns and wife Carolyn all of Farson; daughters Lorna Kay Bria and husband Carmen of Lander, Marlee Arin Jones and companion Sterling Gallegos of Pinedale, and Amy Jeanne McWhorter of Evanston; brother James Harns and wife Patricia of Corona, California; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Kayla McWhorter, and sister Alice Hawks. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Farson High School Gymnasium in Farson. Interment with military honors will take place in the Eden Valley Cemetery, Farson.
