Green River - William "Bill" Welsh, 65, of Green River, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah after a short illness.
He was born January 13, 1942 in Rock Springs, the son of Henry “Pinkie” Welsh and Mary “Merch” Skorup.
Bill attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1960. He also graduated from University of Wyoming in Laramie. He married Jimmie Ann Rountree on June 9, 1962 in Rock Springs.
He had been employed as an English teacher for 35 years. He taught in the Lincoln and Monroe Middle Schools in Green River until his retirement in 2000.
Bill was a member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green River. His interests included spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and college basketball.
Survivors include his wife Jimmie Welsh of Green River; son Michael Welsh and wife Stephanie of Rock Springs; daughters, Lisa Talbott and husband Scott of Casper, Karla Bena and husband Steve of Omaha, Nebraska, and Janelle Rose and husband Andrew of Seattle, Washington; brother, Dick Welsh of Rock Springs; sister, Connie Sains of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Jaynie & Coleman Welsh, Taylor Robbins, Payden & Luke Talbott, Brandon, Ryan & Hannah Bena;
several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Ann Rountree, and brother-in-law Bob Sains.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 Trona Dr., Green River. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
